Got a couple more photos added…and I entered my first contest!
Just uploaded Santa Barbara Palms and Waiting to my images. The Santa Barbara photo was from a family vacation, and I really liked how the young dusk sky served as a gradient backdrop to the swaying palms. I had not been to Santa Barbara in years, and it is a wonderful town. For Waiting, it also takes place at dusk, but this location is on the beach at Emerald Bay. The sun had tucked itself behind the pines and mountain so the rays played across the water and glistened off the side of the kayak. They seemed to merge in shadow and light. This was also an important moment because it was the first time Diego had mentioned he wanted to go kayaking. Little did I know this was going to be one of his most enjoyable activities in the future.
So now for the contest. Fine Art America features some in house contest, and one called for tree images in black and white, so off went my Coastal Forest into the fray. We’ll see how it does. Since I’m a new member, I’m barred from voting, but I think it will do well.
